FineCrypt Archiver lets you
create strongly encrypted file archives. Encrypted file archive is a convenient
means to securely store your confidential files. Once you have created an
archive you can open it and perform various operations on it, such as adding to
or deleting files from archive, decrypting all or several files from archive,
you can open files right inside archive and edit them "in-place", in this case
the file in archive will be updated with the changes.
The main features of FineCrypt Archiver are: |
|
|
With FineCrypt Archiver you can encrypt files in two ways: the program either may
encrypt each original unencrypted file into the individual encrypted file, in
this case you will get as many encrypted files as unencrypted ones; or it may create a file archive and place all the encrypted files into this
archive, in this case you will get only one encrypted file.
You can open encrypted archives and view or modify files contained in them. To
open a file residing in an archive, just double-click it in the ArcViewer window
and file will be opened with the default program which is used for opening the
files of this type. You can create archives
which contain directories and whole directory trees with tens of thousands
files. With this encryption software you can keep your folders with confidential files
permanently in encrypted state and view or edit files when necessary right
inside encrypted archive. |

used for viewing and editing archive contents. In the left pane ArcViewer
represents directory tree contained in archive, so that you can easily
browse the archive contents. You can see the number of files contained
in archive and their total size in the right bottom corner of the ArcViewer
window. |

When you delete your sensitive files from a
disk on your computer, the Windows does not erase these files' contents from the
disk - it only deletes 'references' to these files from some system tables.
Contents of the deleted file (or file body) continue to be stored on the disk
and can be easily restored using any disk tool utility.
With the "Wipe"
utility you can permanently delete the file content so it cannot be retrieved
using disk recovery software.
FineCrypt Archiver deletes the files by
overwriting them with the help of the procedure recommended by Department of
Defense: first all the data in the file is overwritten by all ones then it is
overwritten by all zeros and finally it is overwritten by a stream of random
values. This procedure is repeated as many times as defined in the user
preferences.
