You can encrypt several files either into single encrypted
archive or into different encrypted files. With FineCrypt archives you can work
in the same way as you work with zip archives: you can add to or remove files
from archive , decrypt desired files, and modify file "in-place" not removing it
from archive.
With FineCrypt you can create encrypted and non-encrypted
self-extracting executable files. You can send such files to people who haven't
FineCrypt on theirs computers and they will be able to decrypt this file.
With FineCrypt Schedule Manager security tasks on your computer can be
performed in fully automated mode.
FineCrypt Task Manager makes it possible to create scripts and perfrom
any number of security tasks with several mouse clicks. You create a
script by specifying a list of tasks that have to be done and perform
these tasks in any time by loading and executing the script.
You can access basic FineCrypt's encryption functionality
from other applications by calling FineCrypt from the command line. With
FeinCrypt from the command line you can encrypt and decrypt files with password
or with encryption key and create encrypted archives.
FineCrypt is the ONLY encryption program that you can check
by yourself for absolute correctness of encryption: how to
check FineCrypt.
You can provide for the encryption your own encryption key,
which will be used for encryption without any further transformation. Most
existing encryption products perform the encryption with a key generated from
the user's password. The user does not even see the key that is used for
encryption of confidential information. FineCrypt makes it possible to perform
encryption both with the password and with the key specified by the user.
FineCrypt Communicator lets you securely communicate with
other users of FineCrypt via Internet. Using Communicator you can exchange you
encryption keys and encrypted files with other users. Communicator protects your
communication with the help of the Public Key Encryption.
Quick Encrypt feature lets you encrypt files and folders,
create encrypted archives and add new files to an existing archive with just one
mouse click. Quick Encrypt not only saves your time, but it automatically does
for you almost all work with encryption keys. All you need is to specify
directory where you store encryption keys. In fact, Quick Encrypt lets you not
to care about passwords and encryption keys at all (except of providing physical
safety for a media where encryption keys are stored).
You can encrypt files in three ways: by choosing Encrypt...
from Windows context menu, which appears when you click right mouse button on
file or folder; by dragging the file you want to encrypt onto FineCrypt's icon
on the desktop; or from main FineCrypt window. You can decrypt files from the
Windows Explorer simply by double clicking the left mouse button on the file you
want to decrypt; or by dragging encrypted file onto FineCrypt's icon on the
desktop.
Using the "File
statistics" feature you can get the values of some statistic indicators
related to the data stored in the file. For example, if you have used a program
for file encryption and you cannot test it with the help of test vectors, then
you can get an idea about the quality of encryption by analyzing the
characteristics of the ciphertext produced by this program. In the main
FineCrypt window select a file about which you want to get statistics and after
that press Ctrl+Enter or choose menu item File statistics in menu Actions.
Using the "Wipe" utility you can permanently delete the
file content so it cannot be retrieved using disk recovery software. You can
permanently delete files with the "Wipe" utility in two ways: from the Windows
Explorer context menu, or from main FineCrypt window.
With Key Manager you can easily manage you
encryption keys and encrypted files. One of the main requirements that has to be
met for encryption is a frequent key change. The number of keys grows rapidly so
that the user has to maintain a key database and keep count of what key is used
for what file. In FineCrypt for the first time we have used technology developed
and patented by Crypto Systems that makes it possible to assign a unique key ID
to each key and to store this ID with the file. Thus without any compromise of
security there is no need to maintain a separate key database. The keys should
be kept in one location and FineCrypt will automatically find the required key
before decryption. See for more details: Overview of key management.
You can choose for encrypting any of 10
encryption algorithms: AES, Blowfish, CAST-256, GOST, IDEA, MARS, RC-6,
Serpent, Triple-DES and Twofish; also you can use any of four
encryption modes: Electronic Codebook, Cipher Block Chaining, Cipher
Feedback and Output Feedback.
